“Made in China”

“Not Made in China”, perhaps a new food marketing strategy?  I recently had a conversation with a person of Chinese decent who’s strategy for purchasing Asian products for Chinese cooking was to only buy items originating from Taiwan, SouthEast Asia or the Phillipines.    That is potentially a better strategy since China has been in the spotlight for contaminated foods.  But are the controls really in place for the other countries.  The same marketing forces may drive these countries to cut corners to increase profits as well.  Shouldn’t our own country’s governmental organizations be monitoring these imported foods?  Supposedly the resources are not in place.  But our own USDA is not consistently checking for E.Coli in our beef and considering cloned meats for our consumption.  Ponder that.
