Cloned Meat!
How would you like your cloned meat? Rare, medium, well-done?
I’d say rare to never!
According to a proposal by the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, the FDA is considering cloned meats to appear on your dinner table in the near future. It doesn’t matter that most of the American public is opposed to eating cloned meats. First of all, the FDA has opposed labeling of genetically modified foods. Do you think they will allow labeling of cloned meats? Probably not!
I often wonder if technology is really the answer to a better and more nutritious food supply. It seems we are moving into the direction of model foods, that is, food that looks the same every where you buy it. Do we need that much consistency in our lives? We need to look how it affects our nutrition in the long-term. In a time where we have increasing levels chronic diseases such as heart diseases and cancer, we should be looking at how we eat now and what has changed in our food intake. Is it our lifestyle; is the fact that we no longer sit together and share meals that have been prepared with quality ingredients affecting our nutrition? It is the food and the habits; our expectation for food to be consistent and fast. We know that organic food grown by local farmers is more nutritious that conventionally grown “model” foods. This didn’t bode well for the community of Stepford wives
These farmers are not using advanced technology but time tested practices to growing foods with the least impact on the environment and preserving the soil for future crops of high nutritional value.

Doesn’t this give you some great ideas for a scary sci-fi movie? Eat cloned meats and turn into a mutant zombie (no scientific evidence to support this claim, just kidding).
